August? Where did you go?

I cant believe that it is the last day of August already.. this summer has flown by! It feels just like yesterday that I was getting excited for warm weather!

I feel as if I hardly got anything accomplished this summer.. here are a few things I did... went to the beach, visited family in California, planned my wedding, watched my future hubby graduate from college, went to my cousins wedding, visited New York to see our friends get engaged, found out one of my best friends is having a baby, and enjoyed the company of friends and family... see? I feel as if I did nothing! Crazy isn't it?

Although, I have to admit that Fall is my favorite season of the year, and I look forward to it every year. I am not sure exactly why.. but here are ten reasons as to why I love Fall:

1. I just love the feel of the air, so cool yet fresh
2. I love the smell of falling leaves and how everything just goes to sleep
3. Festivities of Fall are just as fun as the summer! (halloween, fairs, my birthday)
4. Adding to number 3 - I love halloween, the decorating, the carving of pumpkins
5. My birthday is in the Fall, October 14th!!
^^This could be a very large part of me loving Fall, my birthday! Growing up of course every kid cant wait until their birthday, so naturally I couldn't wait until the Fall. Of course we always did Fall themed birthdays, whether it was hay rides, or going to haunted attractions..
6. I love to snuggle up in sweat pants and a sweat shirt and not be hot, or really cold.. Fall is great for this.
7. Every have a fire on a Fall night? It's perfect.
8. Sadly, I was one of the freaks who enjoyed going back to school, so another plus of Fall... but once again sadly I no longer am In school. (Maybe this one doesn't count now? oh well...)
9. Fall can only mean one thing... Big Holidays are on their way!
10. Who doesn't love the smell of pumpkin, cinnamon, apple, and anything associated with Fall?!

These are just ten reasons why I love Fall..

BUT for this year? My number one reason why I love Fall..... MY WEDDING!

Now, less than a month away I will be getting married... I can't believe August is done.. Hello September!

To do.. or not to do

With being graced by Hurricane Irene this past weekend, and people I know going on vacation and my plans being turned upside down.. it got me thinking about my upcoming (oh yes, only 25 days away) honeymoon...

We are cruising to the Bahamas the day after our wedding, September 25th, which by the way is still in hurricane season.

AND.. by the way again, I have NOT purchases vacation insurance for it.

So, here is my dilemma, do I purchase the insurance or do I ride it out and hope to God that nothing happens and that our honeymoon will be oh so perfect and hurricane free?

Oh the decisions..

Has anyone else been in this dilemma, what should I do?!?

I kept checking in this weekend on the cruise website, and they didn't cancel any cruises, they just  changed the itinerary around.. so who cares if we go to a different island right? I'm just worried that my luck, they would cancel the cruise, and I'd be stuck in Baltimore.. yuck.

Any suggestions??

Sunday Funday Still alive and kicking

We finally just got power back after 12 hours of NOT having any power.... boy oh boy... BUT.. what I am not telling is that we actually had power (because we have a generator large enough to power our whole house) Man.. it was a hard 12 hours ;-)

We survived the hurricane, although I was a little disapointed in it. We got some strong winds and over 6 inches of rain (our rain gauge was full, so no telling how much we really got) There is plenty of debris laying around... and we didn't get too much flooding either which really surprised me.

This past week has been a little crazy with weather... an almost tornado, an earthquake.. and a hurricane.. what's next?

The good thing about this weekend? I got to spend it with the people I love and we had a good time.

I can't believe it is almost September... where has the time gone? Fall is just around the corner and I can't wait. It is my favorite season <3

This was my sunday funday =)

What a night!

Last night we decided to move my bacherolette party to that night instead of Saturday... Due to possible weather. We had a good time!

We weren't able to do our original plan, which was a surprise to me but I found out we were suppose to learn how to give a lap dance :-) luckily we get to reschedule to another date! This girl wants to learn how to "properly" shake my booty!

Instead us girls went out to dinner which was yummy... I shared spinach dip and nachos with my friend.. we then proceeded into the city to a bar to get some dancing on.. Good times.

Of course I was decked out in bacherolette attire... Pink sash, pink boa, and a pink tiara with a veil that said Bacherolette on the loose! That I was!!

I couldn't believe how many people came up to me... And I'm not one for lots of attention so it made my night interesting!

Of course I got to use the coolest most embarrassing straw in the world... It was a must from the girls... Of course it was a large pink (ahem) penis straw... Yep I'll be keeping that forever!!

Overall it was a great night... And well the boys had a great time too hitting up the strip bar ;-)

Now... I'm just sitting here watching the storm roll in a recuperating from a very long night!

This weekend a Party & a Hurricane

The weather lately has been crazy.... as you can see from my posts, a close encounter with a tornado, an earthquake just the other day, and now a hurricane heading straight towards us! I'm really waiting for the damn volcano to make its appearances outside my window.

I hope this Hurricane Irene doesn't hit us as bad as they (the un-reliable weathermen) say it will. Yes, it is only a level 3 hurricane, and will be around a level 2 by time it gets to us, but that is still pretty big! We are in between the 100mph winds and the 65 mph winds, so it is uncertain how hard it will exactly hit us. Some sites say just some rain and thunderstorms where others are telling you to brace for the hurricane... well make up your minds!! We decided to brace for it anyway, you can never be too safe. That means everything gets put away outside, barns and other building doors have been fortified so they don't fly off.. and we have our generator ready just in case.. like I said you can never be too safe.

One reason I am hoping this hurricane stears clear is because this weekend it my bacherolette party and my fiance's bachelor party! This is tomorrow night (of course when the storm is suppose to hit) Well, either way we are still having a good time.. even if it is in the hurricane, it will just make it interesting.

Tonight I am meeting up with half of our wedding party and some cousins and were going out to have dinner and some drinks. There will be a band there so I am excited to get out and have a little fun. Were actually going to where I use to waitress/bartend... that place will always have a place in my heart! I loved working there =)

Anywho! Here (with my coffee in my hand) is to hopefully having a blast this weekend and trying to stay dry and not blow away!

Details on the party probably Sunday! Stay tuned and be safe this weekend if you too are in the path of Irene!

Sweet Deals & an Earthquake

Good morning!

If you are like me then you love free shit.... or coupons, but preferibly free shit.. Well I have some for you here..

If you are not following Women's Freebies yet, make sure you do! Todays email consisted of a FREE sample from Burberry Body of their new fragrance they haven't even launched yet. You bet your ass I signed up, and there is a free sample on its way to me! Also, they had two coupons for $10 off Bath and Body Works (uhm, love it!! I use to work there, so I have a million and one Bath and Body Works products, what's one more?)
They also had $10 coupon for Yankee Candle... sweeet!

So, if you are not following, follow! You can find a link on my Sweet Deals page. They have tons more other deals, this isn't the first one that I have gotten =)

***********************************

On another note, we just had an earthquake here! It was crazy. I was sitting at my desk on my lunch break when all of the sudden the whole building started shaking! Items on my desk were rolling around and I'm practically rocking in my non-rocking chair! Everyone started freaking out! I thought I was going crazy for thinking it was an earth quake!

Well thank god for social media (aka Facebook) because that shit was blowing up! Glad I wasn't the only one who thought I was crazy.

It his in Virginia a 5.8 magnitude... we were feeling the aftershock.

I don't think this was my first earthquake I ever felt. Years ago I believe we had a very small one, lasting only a few seconds, I think that was my first. I guess people on the west coast are use to this, but it's a little scary! People felt this the whole way up the coast.. wow.

But, i guess it's just another day.

Oh So Busy Weekend

This weekend was super busy, I didn't even have time to touch technology, by Sunday night I was feeling a little deprived (so sad)

Friday night I got my hair cut.. not drastically, just trimmed and layered with 3 inches off. My hair feels so short.. (mind you, My hair is half way down my back)

Saturday.. the fiance and I shopped until he dropped. Not I? Oh no, I could shop forever. I got my bachelorette party dress (it's super cute) with accessories of course. The party is this Saturday (queue scared face) My fiance and I are having our parties the same weekend... we know when they are, we just don't know what we are doing (queue scared face again)

Honestly... I'm hoping it's NOT a stripper. There is just something about a man (who I do not know) shaking his junk in my face, or just remotely close to me. (yuck) I guess we will have to see, of course stay tuned for photos, maybe?

Ryan, my fiance was looking all over this weekend for red shoe laces to go with the chuck taylors he wants his boys to wear at the wedding... total disaster. We looked EVERYWHERE, no where in the mall had red shoe laces? There was plenty of pink and lime green, but no red. So, I got the brilliant idea (or so I thought) to die white shoelaces. brilliant right? Not.So.Much.

I have never really dyed anything in my life. Well, maybe a t-shirt or two, but nothing important! So, we found some shoelaces, and bought some dye. Little did we know that polyester is a PAIN.IN.THE.ASS to dye.

Well after about 2 hours of boiling hot dye, a headache from chemicals out came an OK color. Not really what we wanted, and a little pinkish. So they dry and we grab the shoes to test them out.

They are too small. Son of a bitch. This people is my life, always something has to go wrong?!?! Why we didn't test them out first? I dont know, I think we were too excited to dye them, and the thought didn't really cross our minds.. so dying shoe laces = complete failure. He was pretty bummed, so I took two shoelaces and sewed them together, looks perfect, and fits his shoes. So no, we don't have laces for the wedding (yet) but now the future hubby is happy that he has some funky looking shoelaces to go with his chucks, yay for me!

We also got to eat out at the restaurant we are having our rehearsal dinner at with my future in-laws. Talk about perfect, it is literally 2 minutes up the road from where we are getting married. It also has some AMAZING food! I got to try two of the dishes we are having be options at the dinner, it was a party in my mouth! Also, the hot crab dip was to die for! We also have our own private room with private bar and bartender and a door leading out to the outdoor patio. I couldn't be happier with the place.

Everything is just coming together so quickly for the wedding. I also worked on a lot of small details Sunday, talk about tiring! Got to love it though. In between wedding details I had to cut my dog. His hair was just a bit ridiculous. He is a shih-tzu so his hair can get wild if not taken care of. You can read about him here!

Just got to get through this week, then it is party time!

10 feet from a touchdown

No.. I am not talking about football, I am talking about a tornado people! Last night we had a nasty storm roll through. There was lightning striking everywhere to the point you could hear what it was hitting.

Of course.. I am sitting on the front porch watching. It is what we always do. Is it safe? I don't think so. Is it fun? Hell yeah!

Before I was sitting on the porch, I had just grabbed my dinner and went to sit down. I looked out the window and saw this HUGE black funnel cloud making its way to the ground. I said to my mom who was sitting there, "Holy shit, is that a tornado?!" She quickly turned around.. and then we of course ran outside (the last thing you are suppose to do) I of course yelled to my fiance, who then did not believe me and laughed until I told him I was F-ING serious. I think he got the point from my tone of voice. My mom then told me she knew I was serious from the look on my face (must have been a crazy eyed look)

So... there we all were sitting outside on the porch watching this cloud make its way down to the ground, and then it just stopped, and back up it went. It had to be 10 feet from a touchdown. Scary. Then came the hail... and I really hate hail, because I am so afraid it's going to dent up my nice SUV... hail is bad. I really wish I would have taken a picture, but I guess I was too in the moment of making sure this "tornado" wasn't going to make its way to my house. It was a close call.

I live in a valley that runs for a good bit (mile or two)... and we tend to be a hot spot in southern PA. Every storm seems to make its way to us... and any chance of there being a tornado, it is most likely to be near us. PA does not get too many tornadoes, it's rare. We had one over 10 years ago that was one of the biggest around our area, and of course it came right up the valley I live in. Completely wrecked everything, thankfully my house sits on the top of the hill, and the tornado blew through the middle and did not touch our house besides some siding that had flown off from the winds. Ever hear a tornado? It really sounds like a train running right beside your house. It is loud, screechy, and pretty scary.

There is something about storms that are just fun. Watching them and secretly hoping the electric blows out, I tend to enjoy storms. It's crazy to watch how mother nature works.. it can be interesting. Hmm.. Maybe I should have became a meteorologist?

ehh.. that's OK, I'd rather watch them from the front porch of my house. This weeks weather forecast? Storms for the next couple days.. hopefully there is another good one in there.

Crafty favors for kids

Today I started on my favors for the kids attending our wedding. I figured I'd get them plenty of fun things to keep them occupied through the night.

So I started off with a plain bag.

Then I bought little fall themed kits to decorate them to go with our wedding theme.

Took me about 2 hours from decorating to filling the bags. Putting those tiny rhinestones on are tricky!!

Each bag is personalized with their own names.... No fighting over them!

Finally filled with lots of goodies and activities to keep the youngins entertained!

A sigh of relief

We had our first wedding venue appointment yesterday... it was a long, almost heated appointment.

Ryan decided not to come.. why? Because he is a man. Period.

So my mother came along, and we got many many details straightened out for our BIG day. I think we had a million questions between the both of us.. at one point my mother said "this is the last one" and he says (Farmer Jim, owner of The Country Barn) "I bet it is..." with a smirk. HAH.. like I said, lots of questions.

BUT IT FELT SOO GOOD.. to have all of my questions answered. My stress level has gone down probably from 95% to 45%... I just loved having so many things cleared up.

My wedding... will be about as perfect as it can be, because I know none are.

I can't wait!

Today we are also finally going to have a meeting with our hopefully  cake decorator. We drove up Saturday to not only find out that they only take meetings throughout the week.. and until 3. BOO... I had to take an afternoon off from work. But, i get to try some yummy cakes, and hopefully they can squeeze us in to their schedule, because it is getting down to the wire. (My stress level will go down to about 35% after this is done)

oh please let them take us.... this is all i keep saying.

 If not... the search continues..

SunDay Funday - SURPRISE!

I had a very BIG surprise today! Today I was thrown my bridal shower!

(Insert Smile Here) Because that is what I was doing ALL day. =D

I am so grateful for all the wonderful people in my life that came out and are supporting Ryan and I. I couldn't ask for more. It was a wonderful feeling showing up and seeing everyone there.

the gifts were pretty awesome too.

We received so many great things, that I can't wait until we move out so that we can use them! It will be hard putting them away for a few months, and only being able to look at them. But, I guess it will be like Christmas all over when we do move out and can finally play with our "toys."

What a great day.... from the great food, to the fun games, it was something I will never forget!!

Thanks again to everyone who made this happen, especially my mom, future mother-in-law, and great bridesmaids! I love you all!

My feet never stopped moving

Today I did some shopping... I should call it Super Shopping.

This was an all day event... phew.. and I am exhausted.

We shopped for everything we could think of today. (We = my Mom and I)

Yes, like I said before, we were wedding shopping today. Got some great things I am very excited about.

Ever get into that shopping mode where you are like... "Ok, we weren't suppose to go here, but I can't really stop, so let's go here.. and here.. and here and here.. must go into every store! Even the ones on the other side of the city!!!!" And before you know it... you are running around like a chicken with its head cut off... ew, not a pretty sight.

Then you look at your clock and it's nearly dinner time.. wowee.. that was my day.

Friday night fun - Bonfire Edition!

How I love the smell of a bonfire... it just screams summer! We're having the perfect night to host some good friends and have a few drinks. It's a great way to just sit back and relax...

We have around an acre of trees (used to be a nursery, but is now overgrown) that we have our bonfires in. It has a large opening in the center, where we have a large tractor wheel for the pit (about 3-4ft diameter, so we can get some big fires going) with lots of benches and tables. Even though I will be moving out soon, I can't imagine not coming back here for some bonfires.

I have been having bonfires up here for as long as I can remember... over 10 years I believe. It is the perfect spot... it is about 1/2 a mile away from the farm house... so we always have lots of privacy. Now, that I am older that really doesn't bother me, but when I was younger it was the perfect party spot! (shhhh.. don't tell my mother)

Another favorite aspect of bonfires? SMORES ... oh the perfect combination of goodness. 3 wonderful flavors combined to create the ultimate creation. My fiance hates that I like mine burnt.. where his has to be perfectly golden. I have to admit, it depends on my mood really.. do I want it crisp or really gooey.. hmmm... I went for crisp this time around. yum....

Tonight's weather is perfect.. and so is the drink in my hand =)
Here is to Friday Night Fun!

Some photos from the night...

Locusts shedding their exoskeleton ... A rare sight!! I saw 5!

A perfect night...

Helloooo People!

Hello out there! Today I was thinking about how I have been writing in this blog for about a month now.. I know still a blogger baby. But, I think I am starting to get the hang of it (I could improve in a few more places, which I plan on doing)

But... I really enjoy writing here. I enjoy putting everything out there and sharing my "life"... and sharing my stresses..and even bitching sometimes too. It's a good therapy kind of!

I hope you all enjoy it so far too.

So, my question is... Who are you? Boy that sounds so blunt...

Really though,  I'd just like to get to know my readers a little bit... and no not a I want to know every little detail about you..  More of a, Lets get to know each other.

So here are some questions I'd like to know.. feel free to choose what you want.. like I said, I don't need every detail of your life if you do not want to share....I'm really not a creeper.

Here we go...

What is your name?
Do you blog as well?
If so, what is your blog?
What do you do for a living? me? I am a Marketing Associate.

Busy Busy

Yesterday night was super busy for me... busy for my wallet that is.

I went shopping... wedding shopping. Got some great deals and some good stuff! I really have been putting it into high gear with this wedding slowly but fastly approaching. Can't wait for some of it to come in. This shopping spree included gifts for our wedding party, flowergirl gifts and baskets, some gifts for my parents and in-laws... fun accessories and decorations.. and so much more.

We also finally booked our excursions for the cruise... hellooo snorkeling, kayaking, and stingray adventure. Cant.not.wait. superduperexcited!!!!

This weekend = more wedding stuff. We are going to check out possibly where I will be getting my cake and ordering it.. woohoo! Then of course doing some more shopping... and more shopping. It's a good thing that my mom and maid of honor (aka best friend) will be there to help me control all the emotions I will be having and my insanity... wait, what am I kidding? They will be just as bad! It will definitely be a good time.

Usually when Thursday rolls around, all I can think about it.. weekend, weekend, weekend.

Why does the weekend always seem so far away.. ugh.

I decided I need to start taking more pictures to share on here. All the blogs I follow have such great pictures on there... sometimes I wonder if my life is interesting enough to take pictures? I guess I can start trying =)

Tonight.. I am going to bed as early as possible.. this lady here needs some sleep.

47 DAYS

There is only 47 days until my wedding...

holy shit.

I made a long.. long.. list of what still needs to be done and bought. ouch.. almost had a heart attack. But, it will get done and be here before I know it. It's actually a little thrilling... having so much to do in so little time! It's like a mad rush to the finish line (and I was never a runner)

********************************

I had a horrible weekend... eating wise. I went off my game.. for TWO days. Not even like, gorge myself to death eating, just eating as I like to call normal. That was a mistake. If you recall from an earlier post It gets a little personal, I talked about my "disorder" My lady "disorder"... no its not like a life threatening disorder.. just a pain in my ass disorder. If I had the chance.. I'd really punch it in the face. Yeah, it's that kind of disorder....

But.. anyway... so I ate normal.. not even completely 100% normal, because I didn't overdue it.. and I even ate healthy at times (that was my self-conscious telling me to be good)

so.. i step on the scales Monday morning (last weighed myself Friday morning)

My jaw dropped... 5 DAMN POUNDS... that's right not a loss.. a gain of 5 pounds in merely less than 3 days... oh yeah.. it's possible people.

Screw you "disorder" and screw you metabolism... it's back to fruits and veggies this week... and a bit more exercising .. because I WILL lose at least 10 more pounds before my wedding... (now 15 counting the extra 5)

It can be such a let down when you realize that you really can never be normal. I can't eat like my fiance... which let me tell you is ridiculous, and makes me jealous 24/7, because he has a metabolism like a rabbit.. (I think rabbits have fast metabolisms?... just a guess) So, it's hard living with someone who can eat any minute of the day and still look good. But, for me to realize this will never be me.. well, kinda sucks. I enjoy food.. I enjoy trying new foods. But, I really have to stay away from anything bad. I guess that is not such a bad thing though. And techincally, I haven't really had and bad food in months.. months! I can't tell you the last time I had fast food.. or chinese (which is my favorite) It has been awhile. But, you know what I have notice? Bad food makes me feel... bad. It makes me feel so groggy and tired, and sometimes just sick to my stomach. So, why do I crave it so much when it does nothing for me... ugh... it can be such a nightmare. Although, this hasn't happened with sweet food, just fatty food. I am not quite sure if there will ever be a day I don't eat sweets.... that would be when the world seriously ends.

Until then... I will just have to enjoy an ice cream every now and then.. in moderation of course.

********************************

FYI... I added some more pics in the cake decorating and animals page.. take a look!

Sunday Funday

Today was a long hot day... but great!

We went over and visited with our friends from up in northern PA.... we went to the farm and shot guns... walked through fields... jumped some fences.. and just hung out. That's some good ol' southern fun. Not southern like VA/KY/TN, but similar - Southern PA.

Then we went out to lunch at Pat's.. yum. Got me a chicken ceasar salad wrap. It was great. I don't think I can eat another bite today.

Now we are sitting at home, cooling off in the AC, and it feels goooood.

There is a thunderstorm about to roll through, wonder if it will be a good one? And by good one I mean... gusty winds.. hail.. and some power outage. I love when the power goes out. I am not sure why.. just the fun of having to find some candles and just sit and talk. Heaven forbid the TV is off... we might have to talk to each other.

And of course... True Blood is on tonight. My favorite show of all time!

amberlee

My bed.. one of my favorite places

Every have a moment during the day when you are like "I just want to be laying in my bed right now.."

If you don't... there is seriously something wrong with you!

I day dream of this spot called heaven multiple times throughout the day...

bed... bed.. bed.

There is nothing more relaxing then that feeling of being curled up under warm blankets.. a soft pillow under your head.. and just laying there. You don't have to sleep.. although that is what normally happens.. its just the feeling of being home.

I hate these thoughts a few times today..

Don't get my wrong, I had a wonderful day at a birthday party and hanging with friends. I am just exhausted... and I am not quite sure why?

I think I need more sleep in my life...

With that thought... I am off to bed!

That's alot of cake! Wasn't even all of it!

Ready to go!

Baking... Smelled so good!

Finished product..a tiered white cake with chocolate filling and pink icing. What do you think?

Ps.... It's suppose to be crooked.

So much to do, So little Time

It is a gloomy.. almost raining day.. any minute now.. but on a good note, it feels great outside. It doesn't feel as if I am going to literally fall over dead as soon as I walk out the door. So, today.. I am OK with a gloomy rainy day.

Although, on days like this, I wish I was back in my bed... cuddled under some blankets, watching a movie..

sigh

I actually am looking forward to getting home from work, because tonight the future hubby and I are going to get our wedding bands!!

Super, duper excited.

This is it below.. I just love it. It matches my engagement ring. It is going to be so hard not being able to wear it for another month and a half... damn. I know one thing, I will be looking at it over and over when I get it. Which will be in about 2-4 weeks.

Isn't it great? I love the baguette diamonds (my engagement ring has them along the side as well.)

The wedding is creeping up on us so quickly, and I realized last night that I have A LOT more things (particularly spending money things) to do. oh boy... So, tonight we are getting the rings, I ordered all my bridesmaid's wedding gifts... and some parent gifts..will be ordering the groomsmen's gifts in the next couple days..and we will be booking our Cruise excursions tonight as well..

Yes... I said cruise! We are cruising to the Bahamas for our honeymoon.. and I.Can.Not.Wait.

We have a few excursions picked out that we want to do... One go snorkeling of course.. and two kayaking safari. Ryan wanted the kayaking safari.. he actually wants to do one that is 5.5 hours long! Holy crap.. I am trying to talk him out of that one, because I seriously don't think i will be able to handle it.. physically and emotionally.. I mean.. 5.5 hours??? ehhh... I found one that is 1.5 hours. THAT sounds MUCH better =) We are also going to do a Stingray Encounter. This I am really excited for! (My choice obviously) We will actually be able to swim and feed rescued stingrays. This is awesome.

Ryan.. was a little skeptical at first. His first comment "No way! You know what happen to Steve Irwin"

really....

But.. after a little explaining and showing pictures.. and him of course reading every review available, he agreed. WooHoo!

So much to do, so little time is my quote right now.. because it is so true.

Happy Mid-Week!

amberlee

PS: This is a great deal below... I actually got t-shirts from here for our wedding. For NOTHING!
Vistaprint
