The Animals

This is my zoo...
And I love each and everyone of them.

All creatures... big and small
except snakes...and spiders
but that's a different story...

This is Leo..

Leo is a 4 year old, male Shih Tzu. He was my 18th birthday present. He was 3 months old when I rescued him from what I believe was a puppy mill. He was born on July 14, 2007.

It was kind of like the story of Goldilocks. Leo had a brother and sister. His sister was the same color as him, his brother was brown and white. As I sat down to check out the pups to pick on out, the beautiful brown and white male (and he was super cute) just kept barking at me, he wouldn't stop, and wouldn't come close... he was a no. The female, well she too would not come near me, but instead decided to hide from me. And then there was Leo... he came right over to me, was not scared at all, I didn't even call him over. He continued to climb up on my lap, and there he sat... I knew at that moment that this was the one! And there he was, my filthy little furr ball. (Had to wash him 3 times!!!)

Let's just say, he's my baby. This dog does not leave my side... 24/7/365. This is not an exaggeration. Everyone says that they have never seen an animal so very attached to someone. He is a very smart, sweet, loyal dog. Just ask him.. he loves his momma.

Leo Shaved for the summer.

Next we have Tina..

Tina is a Savannah Monitor. She is about 2 years old, and she'll get even bigger. She is my husband's pride and joy... I'm not much a reptile lady, but I help take care of them now and then, because if Ryan loves it, well I guess I can love it too.

PICTURE COMING SOON

We have a tree frog... a gray tree frog.
It's actually pretty cool, with it's super sticky feet.

Here is Hope..
 ;

 Here's her story...
About 2 years ago I was driving home from a late night shift at work [i was a waitress.] I was on my road, only about half a mile from my house [remember its dark.] Along side the road I saw two small eyes, about 4 feet off the road. As I slowed down, I saw a small white ball... with bright eyes. I knew right then it was a kitten. So, whats an animal lover like me do? I picked her up of course.

BUT.. don't worry, I knew the saying... where there's one, there's more.
After taking her home, and cleaning her up a bit, I ventured back out to where I found her [right outside a barn]... I looked around, but saw no more kittens, sadly, about 30 feet away I saw a grown cat. I knew it was her mother, they were identical. Poor Hope was an orphan.

Why did I name her Hope you ask?

Well, you see. Hope was a TINY kitten, only a few weeks old, still nursing. I was afraid I would not be able to nurse her back, without her momma... so I named her Hope, because she needed all that she could get. Well, two years later Hope is a crazy, spontaneous, yet sometimes lazy cat. She's also getting pretty plump.
Leo and Hope are best friends..

Then there was GusGus...
RIP GusGus 3/8/2012

Leo and GusGus.. they wouldnt stay still
Always into everything

Yes... he was a rat. He was my second rat. What people don't understand {unless you have rats} is that they are actually very smart clean animals!
If you recall from Cinderella.. there was a mouse named GusGus.. he was the one that tried to put all the corn in his mouth and carry too many for his tiny self to handle. Well, a similar story happened in the beginning with GusGus.. so naturally, that is how is name came to be.

RIP GusGus. GusGus died at the age of only 2. Unfortunately, we were not able to know why. Animals come and go out of your life, but I know I gave him the best life possible!

I love my rats, but I think at this time.. I will be holding off on getting another rodent. Maybe there will be another one in my future... or maybe a chinchilla, I haven't made up my mind yet.

I am an animal lover... and would take in every animal I could, if I had the space, time and resources.
