Story of my life

If any of you don't know yet... I quit smoking.

It's been almost a month now.. and not one slip up. I admit, I miss it. I've come to find out that it wasn't really the nicotine, or the habit of smoking them, it was the enjoyment that has made me think of them.

Yes, the nicotine like they say is the hardest for the first 3 days... then it's out of your body... THEN I had to deal with the habit.

Mostly everyday I had a cigarette at the same time... the exact same time. Ugh... it was painful.

Eventually, I just forgot about it. But, the enjoyment.. I still have not forgotten. I know it was bad for me, yada yada yada... but that doesn't mean I didn't like it. Oh, the enjoyment. That is what I'm dealing with now after almost a month. It's those times where I'm like... "damn, it would be really nice to have a cigarette right now." NOT because I need one, because I want one. Big difference.

Either way... it sucks. I've quit.. I wont pick it back up, it's not worth it obviously to my body, or my wallet.

But, there were people who didn't think I could do it (cough cough, my husband) and I think I've done a pretty damn good job of quitting thus far.

So there.

In the meantime.. I've picked up some more habits... to fill the space of THAT habit. They include... chewing my fingers, biting my lips, and eating. Oh yes, eating. This.. I have just noticed.. primarily on the scale, so back to the diet it is. I've got to kick THAT nasty habit right away.

Oh the joys... you do one thing to become healthy, and end up doing more un-healthy things.

Our one year anniversary

It's crazy that it has been one year since the day I said "I Do"... This year has gone by so fast. It has been a great one year together, so many new starts and memories. I couldn't imagine my life without him by my side, he is the rock that holds me together. I can't wait for the years to come and memories that will be made.

For our one year anniversary we decided to go on a camping trip. We love to camp so we were both excited to get off work and relax in the woods. We went to French creek state park about an hour and a half north. We left Saturday morning and decided to do a few stops on the way, since check in wasn't until 3. We stopped at an antique store and got a few items, then came across a small cute town called St Peters.. It was adorable. It was this town by this river and had a few shops lining the road in the mountains. We walked the streets and bought some wine from their winery, which was delicious!

Our last stop was at Hopewell Furnace right by the state park. It's an old iron town. You could walk through the buildings and see how they made things and just see the history it was neat.

We got to our site and set up and started relaxing! I love cooking by a fire.. And of course s'mores :) the park was pretty filled up with some empty spots, but overall was quiet.

Although, we did have one interesting night. It went like this...

We were finally ready for bed... just laying there talking about our day, and the days to come.. slowly drifting off.. when I heard a "scratch, scratch, scratch..." What was that, I asked Ryan... he replied with, "Probably just a bug." A few minutes go by, and I hear... "scratch, scratch, scratch..."... No, Ryan, that is NOT a bug, something is trying to get into our tent... it sounds like a chip munk...

To fill you in.. we had put our tent WAY back in the woods, because our spot, although nice, kinda sucked. It was rocky, and no where to put a tent... so back into the woods we went with our tent. With no one around us.

Ryan got up with the flashlight and went toward where the sound was coming from... "ITS A BAT!" As a flew up and looked, I replied, "No, it has a tail! What is that?! Wait, that's a flying squirrel!" And that is was... this cute little guy was climbing our tent. After admiring him for awhile, we laid back down.. and watched and laughed as he climbed up and down our tent. What a cute little thing...

After about half an hour of this, the little thing had crawled right behind our head, well Ryan was over the little thing and decided to push it off the tent.... So, he flicks it.. and at that second, we heard a rustle... a small deathly squeel, and the pitter patter of feet running into the woods.

We looked at each other in horror.... he had just flicked our little friend into the mouth of death.Yes, something had been stalking the squirrel, RIGHT BEHIND OUR DAMN TENT. What though and for how long was it sitting there? We will never know.... we both felt so bad... and were freaked out all the same. It was one of those moments where you laughed because you were freaking out.... what a crazy night.

Our little friend, who's life was short.

The rest of our trip was fine... we woke up and made breakfast.... hiked a few miles... went fishing.. and relaxed some more. Overall... our anniversary trip was great. I loved spending the time with my husband... doing things we love to do.

We finished off our vacation at home for our anniversary night, Ryan made me dinner, and we drank some wine... What a perfect weekend it was!

Life currently..

This past weekend was full of some good stuff!!

Friday I got to spend some quality time with the some of my best friends, and got to see their adorable little girl who just can't seem to stop moving now! How time flies... Also got my hair cut, it was definitely needed.

Saturday Ryan and I had a photoshoot! It was so much fun, we got tons of great pics!!! It was for our one year anniversary coming up sooo soon! It's do hard to believe its almost been a year!

Sunday we went apple picking with more friends! We picked over 70 pounds of apples, it was a crap load of apples. We spent all day peeling, cutting and cooking apples. But, it was all worth it. We got 26 jars of apple butter and 10 jars of pie filling an we had some to spare! It was insane.

I love this time of the year.. It's always so busy for us and I love it. Now, we get to add our anniversary in the mix. And, we're going camping this weekend! I can't wait to relax! It's going to be great.

Check out some pics from the weekend and a sneak peak of the photoshoot!!

Our new friends..

Soo i saw that this post never posted!!! So i decided to re post this even though Its outdated!!

.....
Finally, we finished our chicken coop project and were able to start our small flock!

We worked last weekend getting to coop up and in place, and worked all day this past Saturday putting up the fence for their yard. We got 10 chickens to start out with over the weekend.

They should be laying in 2-4 months. Our small little farm is growing, and we love it! Trying to be as self-sustainable as possible.. We have bigger plans for the future, but it's a great start :)

Can't wait to get those eggs in! Plus, they are fun to have...

Check them out :)
