A DIY project!

It's Monday already and I'm already tired.... blah. More coffee please?

The weekends go by way to fast...
Saturday I spent the day out shopping with my mother and sister in law.
I did get a few items, new work out pants, top and another hat. I really don't need another hat, I have like 6 of the same type of hat, all different colors of course, but in the winters I love my hats.. I even wear them in the house. (But, that's probably because our house is ten below-freezing..)

Sunday was a super lazy day... You know, one of those days where you refuse to get out of your pajamas. Yes, that was me yesterday.. it was a PJ day.. and it felt gooooood.

Just because I was rockin' PJ's all day doesn't mean i didn't get anything done. I cleaned, did wash and did my own DIY project.

I finally got around to making my own recipe book to keep me organized with the recipes I am constantly getting from the internet or magazines, or wherever!

Right after Christmas i bought a 3 ring binder in my favorite color of course.. and it sat around for 2 weeks. But, I got it done yesterday. After decorating the cover and putting some tabs inside I thought it came out rather nice.

Take a look...

Because it does...

Tabs for whatever your little heart desires. I just cut in half filing folders and labeled them with titles like this: Appetizers & Snacks, Savory Soups, Best of Beef, Best of Fish, Great Poultry, Breads & Muffins, Breakfast and Brunch, Crockpot, Veggies & Grains, Side Dishes, Salads & Dressings, Cakes, Cupcakes, Pies & Other Desserts.
Can you tell what I make most often? Dessert, it takes up 3 tabs.

I'm still working on it. Of course adding recipes and such, but I will be doing a collage from pictures out of magazines on every tab of it's appropriate food, just for fun! You can see the start of the collage on the first tab on the picture above.

Ooh la la.

A little bit of everything...

Tonight I get to pick up my wedding dress finally! It is all set and ready... had to take it in a size (fabulous right?)
I am excited to see how it fits now. Maybe just maybe, I'll give a few sneak peak photos of it... so stay tuned for tomorrow.

9 days... thats how many days I have left to get my butt into gear. We really dont have too much else left to do, but its the small, tedious items that take up so much time! For my wedding, my mother and I have decided to a lot of things by hand. Not only is it fun,  its also money savers too. It's always cheaper to do it yourself. Most people have called us crazy for doing so much, but why not? I enjoy making things so detailed, and hopefully people will notice at the wedding, because frankly, after cutting "something" out for 30 minutes, my hand tends to hate me.

Tomorrow I am going to the Fair... it's about the biggest thing that happens in this little town. Last night was the parade, and it was the first time I have missed it in a long time, I was kind of bummed. But, I guess that is what happens when you "grow" up. I work too late, so by time I would have gotten there, found parking, and walked somewhere in town to watch it,  it would have been half done.

You know what is one of my favorite things about the Fair? The food, duh! I just love getting the famous pork BBQ sandwich with fries and a milkshake.. oh yum. I am going with my cousin and her kids who want to participate in the pedal tractor pull.... =) good times.

Its not a big fair, no rides or carnival games. It's a small hometown kind of fair, you know with the farm animals and lots of tractors and tents with lots of free goodies, that kind of fair. It's only three days long, but it's the biggest thing that happens around here.... so I have to attempt to make it one night!

Got a busy weekend ahead of me, lots of finalizing for the wedding, and starting to pack for my cruise! woohoo!
Happy Thursday!

Visits from California

Yesterday I was surprised with finding out my future brother-in-law, sister-in-law and nephew had made a longggggg trip the whole way from California!! What.A.Surprise!

My brother-in-law is a Marine stationed out in Twentynine Palms, California on the Marine base. We visited them end of June, beginning of July. Let me start by just saying, Twentynine Palms is located in the middle of no where in a desert. Its hot.... and it is a place all in its own. We had a great time out their visiting them after not seeing them for almost a year. Of course it was also fabulous to see my cute little nephew who had gotten so big since the last time I had seen them.

But fast forward to today. This little family had DROVE from CA... yes over 2,000 miles he put on his car to come visit his family for just a few days. Can you imagine driving that far? They drove non-stop for 2 days, only stopping twice for some extra long naps. I personally would love to take a road trip across the country and stop every where we could. Its the adventure of seeing all the different places and trying all the different food! That is one thing I  L.O.V.E  to do... try new foods. I am not one to stick to plain foods, I like to try all different cuisine.. I guess I will have to put that on my bucket list - Road Trip Across Country.

So maybe some of you are wondering as to why they drove all this way to visit family for just 3 days? My brother-in-law will be deploying to Afghanistan at some point next week (they never tell them official dates) So, as a spur of the moment decision they decided to drive the whole way home so he could visit his family before heading overseas to fight for our country.

If you haven't done so yet... thank a soldier. They give up so much leaving home to fight for our country. They give up their families, their comfort, and their safety. They give up so much. Thank them.

With that in mind.. I am heading over to see them again before they jump back in the car to make the long trip back home again.

Sunday FunDays

There's nothing like a relaxing Sunday. Just sitting back, not worrying about anything in the world.... These are my Sunday FunDays!

Today.... Cruising with the top down in the chevelle. One of my dads pride and joys... Just one of many.

Ryan says it feels like freedom. The wind in your face, and the sun shining down. Me? I love it too, except the constant feel of my hair whipping my face until it's numb. Other than that... It's a good time.

Sunday dinners have to be the best. It's when my mom puts all she has into cooking her family an awesome meal. I know even when I move out... I'll be back here on Sunday's for mommas dinner.

On today's menu.... Beer chicken... Macaroni salad... Beans... And corn.

Yes... Beer chicken. If you've never tried it - think again. It's easy too.... Take a whole chicken... And half a can of beer, any flavor is ok. Only half a can though.... So drink up! Then take the can of beer and shove it up the chickens.... Well... The only place you could stick a can really! Bake until complete. It'll be the moistest chicken you've ever had!

Enjoy the end of your weekend!
